Caring for your jewellery

The general rule is that your jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing that you take off each day.

Sterling Silver naturally tarnishes when exposed to the air and it's important to avoid contact with perfumes, soaps, moisturisers, oils and hairsprays.  Jewellery should always be removed before swimming, showering, bathing and exercising. Keep your jewellery in a jewellery box (preferably an airtight one) or soft pouches and keep each item separate to avoid it getting scratched or damaged by other items. Avoid using silver dips as the harsh chemicals can damage the surface of your piece of jewellery, particularly items with a hand painted or oxidised finish.  Use a specialist polishing cloth to clean silver and gold jewellery. These can be bought from most department stores or large supermarkets. Provided your silver jewellery has no gem stones or pearls or special surface finishes it can be washed in warm soapy water (use a mild detergent). For awkward hard to reach areas use a very soft toothbrush - one for a baby/child is ideal. Make sure your jewellery is dried thoroughly with a non abrasive cloth before storing.

Resin

Resin is water resistant not waterproof, so again it is important to remove jewellery before swimming,  bathing and showering.
